Bangalore Event on Women Safety Strikes a Chord

The marquee event in Bangalore discussing “the implementation of POSH” and “Workforce Diversity through Veteran Hiring”, co-hosted by ELCITA & ELCIA wrapped up recently on February 8th, 2020. The event saw the participation of more than 40 HR Heads of companies across a variety of industries, along with defense services veterans.

Beginning with the subject of women safety, the first eminent speaker Ms Rama NS, CEO, ELCIA, talked about the importance of effective implementation of POSH (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal Act, 2013) in corporations. The speaker drew attention to the fact that in 2020 the total number of registered cases of sexual harassment against women in India stood at 657, while 2019 witnessed 675. Next, to address audience questions on the subject Ms Preet Kushalappa, Infosys, Mysuru, joined in through video conferencing.

Later in the afternoon, Wg Cdr LP Joshi & Lt Gen PG Kamath spoke in detail on the subject of ‘Achieving Work force Diversity through Veteran Hiring’. Cdr Joshi emphasized on the elements of diversity, inclusion, and acceptance while Lt Gen Kamath entailed about the unparalleled degree of professionalism that military veterans bring into the corporate sector. 

The discussion threw light on two intriguing topics in the Indian corporate landscape, initiating a dialogue with the leaders in the industry.
